Awards

We have a number of prestigious awards that are presented on an annual basis, join us at the GUSA Ball when these are presented to the worthy recipients.

Bob Wilson Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the most outstanding sportsman or woman competing for the University of Glasgow.

The trophy was gifted to GUSA by friends of the late Robert Brownlee Wilson, a fourth year medical student and prominent sportsman, who died in 1966 as the result of a climbing accident on Skye.

Roberts sporting achievements include:

  • Representing Scottish Universities rugby
  • Active member of the Ski and Squash Clubs
  • Member of the GUAC Council
  • Organising the 1966 BUSF Ski Championships

William Ross Cunningham Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the most outstanding club affiliated to GUSA.

William Cunningham was an Honorary President of GUAC as well as a former Chairman of the Committee of Management of Athletic Grounds.

He was also considered Honorary President and most enthusiastic supporter of the Rugby Club.

Awarded to a student faculty member who, through service, has made an oustanding contribution to the development and organisation of sport at the University of Glasgow.

Presented to GUSA by the University of British Columbia in 1981.

Justin Scott Langham Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the most outstanding first year.

Named in memory of Justin Langham who died suddenly during his first year of study at the University of Glasgow.

Justin was a prominent member of the Lacrosse club with a bright future in the sport having been picked to represent Scotland.

Donated to GUSA in 2004 by Justin’s parents. GUSA would like to thank them for this kind donation.

Awarded to an individual who has contributed to the development of sport at the University of Glasgow.
