The following opportunities are available in 2008-2009:
1. Active Schools Outreach Programme
Active Schools aims to improve the quality of physical activity provision by providing opportunities for primary aged children before, during and after school. Activities include sports, dance, active travel and play.
2. Sports Coaching
Through the Sport Coaching Programme you will be able to gain coaching qualifications and voluntary experience in the following sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, hockey, rugby, and swimming.
3. Sport Club Committee
Are you one of the many students who give up your time to help organise the running of your sports club? If you are, we’re not asking you to take on even more work, we simply want to recognise the time and effort you put into your club committee role.
Even if you are not a member of a sports club, some clubs may be looking for some administrative support.
4. Special Events
A number of special events from Fun Runs to ActiveAge Festivals require volunteers at various times in the year. Keep up to date with volunteering opportunities on this page.

If you have any questions, please don’t be afraid to ask. Volunteering can provide you with some amazing experiences whilst helping others and making a difference to people’s lives. Most of all have fun and enjoy it.
Are you a committed student looking to develop your skills, have some fun and experience what it’s like to be a coach? The new Sport Coaching Programme gives you the opportunity to start your coaching career by supporting you through coaching qualifications and organising places where you can put into practice what you have learnt and hear from some of the best in the business.
Coaching opportunities are available in the following sports:
All courses will be heavily subsidised by the University, but you will be expected to contribute towards some of the costs.
Let us know which sport(s) you’re interested in by contacting Euan on the details below and we’ll get in touch. We’ll let you know when the coaching courses are planned and try and get you started as soon as possible. You will also have to be Disclosure Scotland checked as most of the coaching opportunities will involve working with children – this normally takes approximately 4 weeks so the quicker we get forms completed the quicker you can get started.
