To get started just bring your swimming gear to the training session.
Training is aimed at all levels of ability so don’t worry if you’ve never even seen a kayak before. There are lots of friendly paddlers to show you everything you need to know from how to get into a canoe/kayak to basic techniques and even play boating tricks to impress.
Paddlers are offered the chance to try the SCA award assessments and go on a variety of trips throughout the UK. We take part in events such as BUSA polo, slalom and the rodeo in Nottingham. Each kayaking year also includes weekends away to places like Fort William, Machrahanish and the grand finale, two weeks paddling in the Alps.
Canoe Polo is a big part of our club. Every year we host and enter the SUS polo championships inviting all the major universities to take part. It is a massive event and growing in popularity every year.
The club has an excellent social side, which includes many activities such as barbecues, dressing up and even the occasional night out to name but a few. Another major highlight of the year is GUSA ball.
