WRITHE! THRUST! GRUNT! IPPON!
If you enjoy getting physical - Judo is the sport for you! This Olympic sport was developed from the older art of ju-jitsu, and is founded on skill, speed and strategy.
Judo is a great form of fitness training and self-defence, regardless of age, sex or build. Unlike many other martial arts there are no kicking, punching and striking techniques. Instead learn how to throw, hold and even strangle your opponent.
We have a proud history of competition, and this year won several team and individual medals from the Scottish and British Universities Judo Championships.
We cater for all abilities - beginners are always welcome. All our coaches are experienced black belts. Our head coach, George McQuillan, who has just received his 6th Dan, has been coaching GUJC for over 25 years.
We enjoy a healthy social life, with a social drink after every training session and events throughout the year. If you think the gym is boring, and want to fend off that belly, compete for the University and above all have fun, then come along and get stuck in!
