Rugby (Mens)

GURFC is one of the oldest, largest and most active clubs on campus. Formed in 1869, the club was one of the founder members of the SRU and has since fielded 13 full internationalists. Join us to play a high standard of rugby and provide a platform for representative honours such as the Glasgow District, Scottish Universities teams and the elusive Glasgow University Blue.

We are traditionally one of the strongest teams in the Scottish Universities Circuit. This coming season we will be fielding 3 XV’s, catering for all levels of player.

Our three teams will compete in a mixture of leagues including a British University League, a Scottish University League and an SRU Glasgow District League. Developing the standard and talent held within the club is our main aim. We hope to dominate all other universities this year.

A short tour to Ireland is planned in March 2008 to coincide with Scotland’s 6 Nations clash in Dublin and the wheels are in motion to organise a tour to a foreign location next summer.

We are a friendly and sociable club, continuously organising events and trips. The club also receives a regular allocation of international match tickets, which are on offer to members on a first-come first-served basis.
