The Sailing Club is one of the biggest in the University with the biggest active membership of any other University Sailing Club in Scotland. We have recently purchased 6 new firefly dinghies, the national team racing boat.
We won the Scottish League last year and came a close second this season and hope to regain the title in 2007/2008. In addition the club has a highly competitive yachting team that also came a close second this seasons Scottish Championships and are looking to improve next year with a win and a place in the student yachting worlds in France.
We run an annual Social Cruise in October where we take 6 yachts (48 people) up the West Coast of Scotland for the weekend to give you a taste of sailing life! But if all this sounds scary, if you have never sailed before or if teams and yachts sound all too much too soon then we run Open Sailing every Wednesday afternoon at Bardowie loch. We can teach you to RYA standard with the clubs many instructors and experienced sailors.
This is usually followed by the weekly club trip to the pub. For further details see our website: www.gusailing.com.
