Once you’ve forgotten the fact that you are playing a game called Ultimate Frisbee, you’ll realise that it is actually a highly skilled, competitive and, above all, enjoyable sport.
Ultimate Frisbee is unique: it is played with a flying disc, with men and women competing on the same teams with no referees. We play in tournaments with up to 36 other teams over an entire weekend. This creates a fantastic weekend of sport as well as a great social atmosphere; teams play, camp and party together! Tournaments take place all year round at both student and open level, offering the opportunity for travel throughout Britain and Europe.
The game itself is simple, incorporating the skill and athleticism of more familiar sports with complex strategies. A disc can be thrown further, faster and in more ways than a ball can be thrown or kicked and points are scored by catching the disc in your opponents’ end zone.
We welcome people of all abilities and fitness levels and offer one of the most relaxed and friendly environments you are likely to find in university sport. So, if you are looking for a challenge, and you’re not afraid to try something new, why not give Ultimate a try.
