Sport and Recreation > Sport and Recreation Service
The SRS is a large and dynamic service department of the University. It is our role to manage and develop the sport and recreation provision for the University. There are over 80 full-time and part-time staff in the SRS and we work hard to ensure that sport and recreation is a special and rewarding experience.
We firmly believe that there are huge benefits to participating in sport and recreation and are committed to reducing any barriers to taking part. This commitment is not just talk. We have over 14 500 members and an amazing 2,500 use our facilities on a daily basis. This represents one of the highest participation rates in all the UK universities.
Currently at least 10,000 of our members are students. An important factor in achieving our successful student participation rates is our partnership with Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA). We are both involved in providing opportunities for student participation in sport and recreation and we work in close partnership to ensure that we have a packed and diverse sport and recreation programme.
The SRS has five main areas of operation and these areas work together to manage develop and deliver a comprehensive sport and recreation service.
